The Line

from APORIA by Internal Conflict

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Rising British heavy metal outfit Internal Conflict released new album ‘APORIA’ via PHD in July 2021 ahead of slot on Bloodstock Festival’s prestigious Sophie Lancaster stage.

‘APORIA’ was mixed and mastered by Neil Hudson (Krysthla) at Initiate Audio & Media Studios in Northampton, the pairing of the band and acclaimed producer has resulted in Internal Conflict releasing their finest work to date.

The news of ‘APORIA’ follows the Leicester five piece metaller’s 2018 ‘Nothing Is Lost’ ep and continues their progressive creativity and innovative take on heavy metal. Part brutal, part melodic, sonically the new songs deliver a deep exploration of modern metal whilst the lyrical themes reflect on society and what it is to be human in deeply challenging times.

“The name ‘APORIA’ initially spoke of the difficult times we have gone through personally in the last few years, in and outside of the band”, explains frontman Adam Kyle. “From family breakdowns, to mental health struggles, parenthood, life / work balance, and what it means to be a band in an age of digital revolution; all is laid bare. However, with the pandemic and growing cultural divisions, we put our feelings and thoughts into our music as a way to discuss where we, the human race, are right now. Ultimately, we are asking how to achieve happiness in a world that at times feels hopeless and filled with addiction, media influence, wealth or lack thereof, hate, and narcissism.”

Whilst dark in their lyrical approach, the tracks featured on the new album blend into an overall arc that offers a shining light to listeners. “It’s ok to not be ok, but we want to get better, and we want to help others if we can. This is where our lyrics live, amongst the hustle and bustle of life. We are not a political band, we but are political people. We hurt, we love, and we feel everything around us and channel it into our music”, concludes Kyle.

The album’s stunning artwork was designed by Dominic Sohor (Raging Speedhorn).

Includes unlimited streaming of APORIA via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.

lyrics

The Line

plastic paper trails and payment, flying off the rails
burning through it all to keep warm, hammering the nails
this damned life, planting you down to the floor where you land
graves of trees, cracks in the pavement, now watch where you stand
don't. miss. out. don't miss out,
sale of the century - oh it wont last

no, space to grow - no place i know

step free from the line that you walk
step out of the world that you know
breaking the cycles and chains, its not who we're meant to be
step free from the line that you walk
step out of the world that you know
a trip to the other side, is this how the others live?
step free from the line
cant see the wood for the forest - you wont live

trashed, packed down and buried, boxed into your own
landfill existence no rest for the low life
sold out, where did they go?, now, when
are the doors closing and cleansing the air, hold your tongue
walking along lets them know that you're there.
don't. miss. out. dont miss out
sale of the century - oh it wont last

no, space to grow - no, place i know

[chorus]

with hope in my heart, dreams in my fist
praying to those that i know don't exist
believing the voices , that tell me i'm wrong
damning them all, because it is now time to be free

stepping away from the line

with hope in my heart, and dreams in my fist
taking each day like a line from a list
reading my story like a tragedy
holding on tight while we find our own way to be free

stepping away from the line

no, space to grow
its been too long

suffering through all the silence i've wrought
this changes the day
start anew, plant the seeds of a change
this wont be the same
